Why Give Yourself a Headache: 5 Little Changes for a Simple Life

With the invention of technology things seems to get more complicated although some people find that technology makes their life more easy.  People tend to make it more complicated versus looking at it in the most simple easiest way. By focusing on things you really like and leaving all the other stuff alone you will begin to have a more simple life. By limiting the technology you use to only the things you really need and leaving all the other unnecessary technology alone your life will simply be simple. People tend to want to keep up with the newest technology and all this does is confuse them, empty their pockets and end up frustrated and penniless.

Imagine when your parents or grandparents depending on how old you are were growing up and how simple things were for them: you wake up you, go to work, you come home,  you eat and you go to bed: repeat. Obviously things are not that simple but if you just add a mind and body routines to that sequence then you will realize how simply you can live.   You will then realize that less is more and adding more and more stuff to your life only complicates things. You only need one pair of shoes, you only need a couple T-shirts, you only need a couple pairs of pants, you only need a couple pairs of socks and you only need a couple pair of underwear. Anything beyond that should be considered a treat and the more treats you have the more space you need, the more space you need, the more money you have to spend,  the less money you have saved, the less money you have saved and here you are in this complicated, confusing, dog chasing its tail life or matrix. Unless of course you make a lot of money. And that’s defined by spending as much as you want with plenty left to save. But that of course is a very small percentage of this world.

Quit Trying to Hit It Out Of The Park

The problem these days is everyone is trying to hit it out of the park. What this means is instead of focusing on maybe a local business people want to be the next millionaire or create the next best product. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a millionaire or create the next best product but at the same time there is also nothing wrong with making a really healthy living and only selling to your local area or in small necessary amounts. By local area I mean if you live in southern California then southern California or if in your New York then Manhattan. If you look at the number of people in just those areas alone and if you were just to hit a percentage of those people you would be doing amazing. By all “amazin” I mean a good lifestyle and not working all day of everyday but instead enjoying your life.

You will enable yourself to have time for your hobbies, exercise, visiting and traveling amongst all the other things you might enjoy. You will have more time for your family if you have one or just to sit in a hammock in your backyard reading. Most people in the United States spend all their time working and not enough time on their lifestyle. Believe me work is essential but over work is not good for you. Working your whole life to acquire a savings only to never have the time to enjoy it the “rat race” and antiquated way of looking at things. Sure you can pass it on to your kids or charity. But life is meant to be lived not worked. And all your money is meant to be enjoyed not saved.

Keep Material Things to a Minimum for a simple life

How much of anything do you really need? That is one of the biggest question you hear about these days. The rat race is alive and well. People are waiting in lines for the first day  the new iPhone becomes available. There are days like “Black Friday” where material things are price slashed for the day usually after a holiday like Thanksgiving. After eating more food than you need you proceed to go and spend more money on more objects because they are on sale that you don’t “need”. You camp out so you can be the first person in the door to buy the new “Tickle Me Elmo” or whatever the new hottest item is for time of year. Then only a couple months later the object is sitting amongst all the other “Black Friday” items in the basement. Less really is more in every way.

Keeping material things to a minimum is a very hard unless you are just broke or have great discipline. And sometimes even when you are broke and disciplined you still find a way to squeeze out some money for pair of designer jeans, sneakers, mobile phone or video game. We live in a very advertisement heavy time where all commercials are trying to sell you food, toys, cars or the new technology.  Buying objects fills a temporary void not being met somewhere else in your life but learning to live a simple life without a bunch of material objects is difficult since society puts so much emphasis on material objects equaling wealth.  If you really think about it the less you have the richer you really become.  If you’re on the edge of buying a new product really sit and think if you need it or if you just want it.  Asking yourself this always helps to limit your purchases and save you some money.

Avoid Getting Into the Car Matrix

The car Matrix is a very interesting process. The car dealership wants you to lease or buy a car that you can’t afford but tell you its in your budget. You want to be driving a nice car because everyone sees you in this nice car. And before you know it you’re spending a very high percentage of your income on a car that you only use to get from point A to point B. There’s nothing wrong with buying a car that cost $3000 to $10,000 (just general amount),  not having a payment and also having cheap insurance because the car is not worth a lot of money. Anything by Toyota will last hundreds of thousands of miles of driving with minimal visits to the mechanic.

So don’t get caught up in the car Matrix when you have a leased or financed car that you really can’t afford vs a $3,500 car that works great.  Also the car dealerships are notorious for charging you a higher interest rate because chances are your credit is not very good. Because of this high interest rate your payment is going to be a lot higher for a car that you would normally get for a lot less.  Exchange the car for a bicycle, walking or public transportation and try and live closer to your work so you can just use the above styles of transportation to get to work.

Do It Yourself (DIY) For a Simple Life

With the advent of Google and use of Siri and Alexa now all you have to do is literally ask a question. Siri ” how do you make do-it-yourself organic hair products?”. Then just sift through the answers to find which recipe you like. If you have dandruff then use tee tree oil, if you are losing hair then cedarwood oil. Just drop those in a spray bottle with vegetable oil and filtered water. Then you have a do it yourself hair product. By doing it yourself you save money and have fun creating your own products. And don’t say you don’t have time because if you really want to do something you will find the time. Because you know you have the time to eat chips and watch reality television. So you should have time to make your products.

You can apply this sequence to anything like recipes, artwork, fixing your car and pet flea products. You can make cleaning products and clothing. With Google you can make anything you can think of to make. By making all your own products you know what’s in them and you can save enormous amounts of money by ordering ingredients online and making it yourself. You can reuse the containers over and over thus being environmentally friendly. Do-it-yourself products make your life more simple and give you a sense of accomplishment. And lets face it that feeling accomplished is a great feeling. They are also great to give as gifts for birthdays and holidays to friends and someday might become a side business. By opening your mind and not being afraid there are so many possibilies going on in this thing call LIFE.

Spend Time On Other People

We live in a selfish world. We are constantly thinking about how “I” can do better. How “I” can make more money? How “I” can feel better? Well if you get rid the the “I” and put some focus on someone else like the poor, friend in need or random person in need you will start to see a shift in your Karma (if you believe it Karma). You will start to see how good fortune starts finding its way to your doorstep. How more people are attracted to you. If you really think of ways to help other people you start to have a more simple life. Even if it starts out only during the holidays or once a year its a start and you will start to see a shift in mindset. Giving is just good. Good for you and good for the world. It opens up new possibilities and relationships. It clears the air and puts you in a good space.

If you look at people like Toni Robbins. His success was because of his desire to help others. Help others that were having a rough time like he did growing up. His compassion pushes him so hard that he has a super successful business that takes him around the world to help others in need. His energy comes from his constant selflesness to help others and give them a better life. If there ever was a good example to why spending time on other people is beneficial just follow Toni Robbins. If not him there are an infinite amount of others that are here just to help others. So the next time the opportunity to help someone else appears don’t hesitate to give a helping hand.
