Tijuana Restaurants – Los Arcos

Located in the high end restaurant district of Tijuana, Los Arcos is a great seafood and traditional mexican restaurant.  When you walk in the decor is simple, their focus is the food. From the opening of the door you are greeted by very beautiful friendly host.  They offer personal purse hangers for the ladies.  Already you can tell the service is going to be impeccable because there are waiter all over the place. In the background you can hear live singing and see people dancing. The place was full of great energy.

They first bring you tostas (large tortilla chips), whole grilled onions, marinated chile peppers and homemade salsa. The marinated chile peppers have the perfect amount of spice, an initial burn that subsides shortly after.  The salsa has a toasted chile pepper taste, the tostas are recently fried and still have the oil from the pan on them.

This time my friend and I order the aguachiles de camaron (shrimp) appetizer. Lets just say if you have never had aguachile, it is a must. This is the one of the best tasting camaron (shrimp) appetizer I have ever had. It is sliced down the middle shrimp with the tails left on marinated in a lime juice that has a hint of spice, probably diced jalapenos or serrano chiles. Very refreshing.

As a main meal we both ordered the Calamari ( a la plancha) grilled. It comes with fresh vegetable (with a cream sauce spilled over them) and lemon flavored rice. This calamari was seasoned with salt and other spices and grilled to perfection. They offered you two big calamari patties.  Could easily be split if on a date. Or if you are really hungry like my friend, eaten by yourself.

After the main course we were entertained by the waiters as they are very friendly and enjoy the company of their patrons. Upon finishing they brought over to Kahlua drinks in a small glass. Since I don’t drink my friend drank both of them.

I highly recommend this place. It is really close to the border and for the adventerous you could just take a cab directly to Los Arcos and ther is one in San Diego and never even skip a beat.

Take a chance, TJ is safe and alive with energy. Do yourself a favor.
